Prescription Drugs

  • Percocet-A prescription pain reliever containing oxycodone and acetaminophen.  Percocet is highly addictive and very much misused.
  • Oxycontin- A powerful prescription pain reliever prescribed for moderate to severe chronic pain.  Misused as a street drug being snorted or injected.
  • Vicodin- A prescription pain reliever containing hydrocodone and acetaminophen.   Misused to obtain its euphoric effects.
  • Ritalin- Is a mild nervous system stimulant that affects chemicals in the brain and nerves that contribute to hyperactivity and impulse control.   Misused by being crushed and used as a substitute  for cocaine.   
  • Darvocet- A combination of acetaminophen and propoxyphene designed to relieve mild to moderate pain.   Misuse of this drug is gained by mixing other substance’s to increase the high.
  • Codeine- Used to treat mild to moderate pain. A narcotic pain reliever that can be habit forming.  Misuse begins when you start chasing the rewarding or pleasurable feeling by increasing the amount taken.
  • Hydrocodone- Is an opiate agonist semi-synthetic narcotic analgesic used for mild to moderate pain. Misuse comes with combining it with other substances to heighten the effects.
  • Mophine- A opioid medication to treat severe chronic pain. It is highly addictive as tolerance  builds up and it takes more and more to relieve the pain.
  • Stadol-  Highly addictive synthetic opioid commonly used for migraine relief.  Addiction to this drug comes from altering the dose to activate the brains rewards triggers.
  • Demerol- An opiate taken as a pill, liquid or patch for pain management. Taking higher doses of this drug to fix the pain level will lead to misuse and addiction.
  • Xanax- Is a benzodiazepine which causes relaxation. Misuse of this drug is mixing it with other substances like alcohol and cocaine to reach a ultimate high.
  • Valium-A drug of the benzodiazepine sedative class. It works on the central nervous system to potent the effects of inhibitory neuro-transmitters. Addiction to this drug is very serious and sometimes life threatening.
  • MS Contin- Is a formulation of morphine that is made in time released tablets.  Misused by heating the pills to make intravenous drugs.
  • Methadone- An oral opioid drug used for pain relief and to treat opiate addiction. This drug is used to treat herion addiction, but is very addictive in itself.   
  • Hydormorphone-  a narcotic analgesic  used to treat moderate to severe pain. Missue is started when you use more than is prescribed to control the pain.
  • Fentyanl-is a powerful synthetic opiod stronger than Morphine. It is typically used to treat severe pain, to manage pain after surgery or to treat those suffering from chronic pain.  This drug activate the brain’s reward and pleasure centers stimulating the patient to chase those  rewarding feelings and to crave the drug more and more.
  • Oxycodone-is an opiate analgesic for the relief of moderate to severe pain.  repeated use of this drug can lead to intolerance and then requiring more and more of the drug to maintain your pain.
